Mandala
A round hanging stained glass panel with a number of pieces of original acid-etched glass. The patterns in the green glass were created through marbling - yes, what you do at school with coloured paint! I swirled bitumen on top of water in a shallow container and dipped the glass into it as you would a sheet of paper onto oil paints swirled onto water. After the bitumen had dried I placed the glass into a bath of acid for a couple of hours. The bitumen acts as a resist while the acid removes the top layer of the unprotected glass. Then I incorporated the green glass alongside the other colours into the circular mandala design.
